Help with Becoming New Employer

I have a small company that I want to expand and in order to do that I will have to hire quite a few new employees. The problem is that I do not have a lot of people skills and I have never been an employer before. So I am kind of worried about how it is going to work out for me, and I am not sure if I will have issues with high turnover, etc. because of personality clashes with my new employees. I am on right now to read about some of their tips that they have for employers and I also think that I might want to give them a call and see if they can give me some information that would be more helpful for my situation in particular.

I do not know how long it is going to take me to become a good employer, but I can see someone with a personality such as mine struggling with adapting to the challenges of having to relate to your employees and trying to get the most out of them. Throughout my life, I have always worked better by myself, so this is going to be a new challenge for me.

But it is a challenge that I am going to embrace, as I have already mentioned that I am trying to expand the business that I own. It is a business that I started about two years ago and I am pretty excited to see it i continue to grow and to do well. When I first started the company, I did not really think that it would do very well. But I have since changed my tune because it has been very profitable over the last couple of years and that is why we are expanding.

Wood Fired Pottery

Wood Fired Pottery

Throughout history, clay has had many uses. Initially it was used as a method for creating figurines and idols. Later, it became so much more and many of those earlier uses for clay still remain today. One of which is as the tool from which pottery is created. This allowed citizens of the world, centuries ago to store precious liquids, food, and other items and proves useful for many reasons, as well as decorative, all these centuries later.

While it is widely believed that the firing of pottery is something that was learned very much by accident, it is also widely understood that the idea of firing pottery spread like wildfire, if you’ll pardon the pun. In the beginning the firing of pottery was intended only to strengthen the pottery rather than as a decorative enhancement, though the strengthening was minimal and the ability to enhance pottery creative and artistically was greatly improved.

As time moved on, as it inevitably does, various tribes and cultures made their own unique marks upon the pottery of their people. Most recovered pottery throughout history is easily recognizable according to tribe or people, not only because of the location in which it was discovered but also as the result of the artistic markings that were made upon the pottery and, in many cases, the method of firing the pottery that was used in the process of its creation.

Early pottery wasn’t glazed because of the high, sustained temperature that is required in order to glaze pieces. It simply wasn’t possible to regulate these temperatures in early societies. It was several centuries before kilns were created that would allow pottery makers to control the temperatures of the fire and reach the desired temperature to improve options for glazing these precious pieces of pottery.

Quite a while later we began using natural gasses to control and regulate the temperature for firing pottery. The problem with this is that in a world that is increasingly dependent on natural gasses and a limited supply there are many who feel this is an irresponsible method for heating kilns. Add to that the notions of global warming and worries over pollution, many are turning back to the trees for heat sources. The good news is that trees are a renewable source of energy to fuel the fires of the kilns and they burn clean. Of course this isn’t the one-size fits all solutions and it isn’t the answer that everyone has. There are still those who use natural gas or electricity to fire pottery. Wood is simply the choice that many artisans and craftsmen (and women of course) are making in order to do their part to save the planet.

That being said, wood firing is a very time consuming process for firing pottery and involves no small amount of labor. For this reason, expect to pay considerably more for pottery pieces you purchase that are wood fired. If you are planning to make your own pottery you should definitely understand that wood firing is a very labor intensive process that requires constant monitoring of the fire and in many cases constant feeding of the fire in order to maintain the constant temperatures necessary to fire the pottery properly. The results are beautiful pieces that have a low impact to Mother Earth in the long or short terms of things.

If you love the beauty of pottery and timeless appeal of owning something that is literally a piece of history in modern form, then pottery is certainly a great way to go. Throughout history pottery has proven to be both useful in a utilitarian sense and quite beautiful according to the artists that created various pieces. Whether you are looking for purchase or create pottery for business or for pleasure be sure to keep in mind that wood firing is one of the choices that is available for the creation of many remarkable pieces of pottery.

When Is An Autoresponder Not An Autoresponder?

When Is An Autoresponder Not An Autoresponder?

If you’re new to internet marketing, you may
be wondering…

“What the heck is an autoresponder?”

Of course, some of the old hats out there
reading this will scoff at that question.

They’ll LITERALLY say:

“SCOFF! An autoresponder is a program that
automatically sends out emails to your prospects!

Well, they’re right. An autoresponder does,
in fact, automatically send pre-written emails
out to people in a timely fashion.

(And this is a big “but!”)

An autoresponder is actually much, much more
than just a program that sends out emails.

It’s actually…

Lemme give you a quick breakdown in website
traffic to explain what I mean…

See, there are 3 types of website visitors…

There are first time visitors.

There are recurring visitors.

And then there are ADDICTS.

Recurring visitors and addicts will almost
ALWAYS buy more of what you have to sell
than first time visitors.

So in order to cultivate these two types
of visitors, marketers want to build
COMMUNITIES around their brand and products.

You’ve heard of blogs, message boards, and
content sites, right?

These are all community building tools
designed to create recurring visitors
and addicts.

But guess what?

To quote Martin Lawrence:

“BELIEVE that!”

See, most people use their autoresponders

And the worst part is – they don’t even know
they’re doing it.

Blogs, message boards, and content sites
have the disadvantage of needing people
to come to them in order to be effective.

Emails are different.

Emails go DIRECTLY to the people.

You ever lure a dog closer to you with a piece
of food?

Well, imagine the email is a piece of food,
and your potential customer is the dog.

You can take the time to have the dog come
to you to get the food…

Or you can toss the food to the dog.

In both situations, you’re going to win
the dog’s trust. But one is MUCH FASTER
than the other.

Eventually the dog you toss the food to
will start coming to you, while the other
dog will always be a bit wary.

The same is true of email.

So a good autoresponder will get you exposure
to your customers, but more importantly, it
will begin to BUILD A RELATIONSHIP with them!

And let me tell you something: Customer
Relationships are VITAL to selling!

The customer will get to know you, get to know
your products, and get to know your company.

And eventually, be it 2 days later or 2 years
later, they will EVENTUALLY buy.

Now, imagine if every first time visitor to your
website joins your autoresponder.

Because of your autoresponder sequence, I’m willing
to bet that at least 20%-60% of them to become
recurring visitors.

And of that, maybe 10% become ADDICTS, if you
incorporate a blog or message board into your

That’s when things get REALLY fun.

But make no mistake about it: It all depends on
how you set up your autoresponder sequence!

Do it right, you create a community of buyers
around your business.

Do it wrong, and you’re just wasting your time
and money.

That’s why I created the Email Rebel course.
To teach you the RIGHT way to create an
autoresponder sequence, and use your autoresponder
to create the type of community you want.

It is chock full of actual, HELPFUL information
that can really benefit your business.

Understand: I’m very disappointed with a lot
of products that are out there.

They’re just video of talking heads in a seminar
room, or mindless interviews with nothing new
to offer.

And how many powerpoint presentation do we need?

That’s why the Email Rebel course is DIFFERENT
from all the other stuff you see.

Until next time…

Rappin’ Matt

21 Lanzarote Attractions – Timanfaya

21 Lanzarote Attractions – Timanfaya

The Montañas del Fuego (Fire Mountains), to give them there proper name were created in the 1730’s when more than 100 volcanos in what is now the National Park, rose up to devastate the southern part of the island. Eruptions lasted for six years and several villages were completely destroyed. The last eruption on the island was in 1824.

Because Lanzarote has such low rainfall (and therefore a lack of erosion) the area appears much as it did at the time and in 1968 the area was declared a national park “Parque Nacional de Timanfaya”.

We decided to make a full day of this trip and we firmly believe that this a must see for any visitor to the island, because of its unique ‘martian’ landscape and rare plant species. On entry to the national park (entrance was around 8 euros per person, as I recall, and the small children were free as is usual at many of the islands attractions), the first thing to catch our eye were camels and of course we had to stop because the children wanted a ride !

An hour or so later, we arrived at the Car park of the Islote de Hilario, where we saw a crowd of people standing around a hole. This was to be the first of two quite stunning demonstrations of just how hot the area is just below the ground. We were told that temperatures a few metres below ground are a staggering 400°C to 600°C.

Dry bushes were thrown into a hole and in less than a minute, it caught fire !

Water was then poured into a bore hole and seconds later the water erupted back into the air as steam and we all got a warm shower because we were standing on the wrong side.

Next up was the ‘El Diablo’ restaurant, another creation of the famous artist (Cesar Manrique), whose influence is everywhere on the island. Here we find traditional Canarian food cooked using geothermal heat (A cast-iron grill placed over a large hole in the ground). Where else in the world can you get your food cooked on a volcano !

We then went on a coach trip of the National Park (part of the entrance fee). If your feeling a little queasy or don’t like heights don’t sit by the window as it can be quite scary (but very safe and the children absolutely loved it). The coach stops at several strategic points in order that you can get some amazing pictures and film (so don’t forget to take the camera/video with you). During the trip we listened to recorded narration based on words captured by the priest of Yaiza at the time of the eruptions.

Another great day and another great attraction.

Nutrition Tips To Help You Eat Right

Nutrition Tips To Help You Eat Right

Eating healthy is something that we should all strive for. When you get sick, it can be a great giveaway that your system is missing proteins and nutrients. Nutrition deals with how much you should eat and of what, for your body to feel fulfilled. The tips in this article have some great pointers on how you can improve your nutrition and life.

Breast feed after having a baby. Your body will burn an additional 500 to 800 calories each day to produce milk. These added calories can get you back to your pre-pregnancy weight much faster. Make sure to eat a healthy balanced diet though, as you will still need a greater calorie intake until you stop breastfeeding.

Eat nuts for a snack instead of crackers. Even though nuts are higher in fat content, eating only a small amount can satisfy your hunger for a longer period of time. Crackers are mainly carbohydrates. You will need to eat more of that to satisfy your hunger over the same period of time, leading to eating more calories. So, in the long run, nuts are better snacks.

Another vital nutrient is pantothenic acid, another B Vitamin. It is absolutely required for the metabolic process to work, called the Tricarboxylic acid cycle. It is also necessary for enzyme activity and the creation of many compounds of biological importance. The best sources of pantothenic acid are whole grains and meats.

If you ate something that is high in salt or sugar, try to eat something that is much lower in those elements. Don’t punish yourself, instead, attempt to balance your intake. Nutrition is not a perfect science. As long as you are paying attention to what you eat, you will look and feel better.

Hiding nutritional food in the recipes of favorite foods is a great way to aid proper nutrition in picky eaters. This can be adults or children. Oftentimes you can place healthy vegetables or fruits into otherwise not so healthy food types and your patron will be non the wiser. There are many recipeavailable that utilize healthy foods in other not-so-healthy foods to keep the nutrition high.

Eat less meat. While vegetarianism is not for everyone, most people consume far too much meat ” especially” red meat. Red meat is very hard for your body to digest, and the average person has too large a portion on their plate. If you eat meat, stick with fish and white meat, and keep portion sizes between three and six ounces.

We eat vegetables both cooked and raw. Which is better? Raw vegetables have their advocates. But current studies show that most vegetables have higher nutritional value and are more digestible when cooked. Carrots and cabbage are tasty eaten raw, but many vegetables are palatable only when cooked. Steaming is the best method to retain food value.

Health and nutrition walk side by side and you can’t have one without the other. This article has some tips that you can use as guidelines for your well-being. Choose to follow a just a few or all of the tips, and you are on your way to a healthier you.

Become A Professional Chef With These Tips (3)

Become A Professional Chef With These Tips

Food is such an essential part of our lives. Cooking is a survival skill, but it can also be a passion. The love and effort that can go into cooking even the simplest dish can shine through to the recipients of this food. By showing respect for your ingredients and paying attention to some small details, you can make the very most of your food no matter what ingredients to which you have access.

If you are a big fan of having baked potatoes with your meal but do not like the long cooking time, you should soak them in salt water for twenty minutes before you bake them. They will take only about half of the usual time to bake after being soaked.

When it comes to cooking, you may wish to consider buying an expensive knife set. While it may seem like a lot of money for knives at first, you will be extremely happy with how they work and cause you to want to cook more often that you currently do.

Use a heavy duty, zip-lock plastic bag to separate pan drippings. After roasting meat, pour the pan drippings into a zip-lock plastic bag. Let the fat rise to the top. Carefully snip off one of the bottom corners on the bag, and pour out the fat-free broth. The fat will stay in the plastic bag, and you will have a tasty broth as a base for gravy or a sauce.

When you are making meatloaf or meatballs, it is very important for you to season it just right or it can be very bland. By making a very small patty and frying it up, you can make sure that your seasoning is just how it should be.

Indenting the center of a hamburger patty by up to one half inch will prevent bulging during cooking. Just a poke in the middle prior to cooking will allow a more even distribution of heat and will stop your burger from swelling on the top, something most of us are all too familiar with.

Place fruit that is not quite ripe in a plastic bag with a few small holes to allow it to ripen. The plastic helps retain the gases used by ripening fruit while the holes allow fresh air to circulate across the fruit. This also helps you keep your fruit fresh longer!

To preserve more of the nutritional value of your vegetables don’t cook them for too long. As you cook a vegetable, its nutrient content diminishes. Good techniques for quickly cooking vegetables are steaming and stir-frying. Slow cooking has its place, but don’t neglect the quicker techniques with their greater nutrition.

Cooking is an activity that is what you make of it. You can either let it be a chore or enjoy it as the creative process it is. Cooking can be very satisfying. The creation of an edible piece of artwork that started as such a different ingredient can be an almost miraculous event and is as rewarding for the cook as it is for the person who eats the final product.

Tasty Gluten Free Products

Tasty Gluten Free Products

In the gluten-filled world where we have spent most of our lives until now, we learned as children which products we liked to eat and which we didn’t. Now, as sufferers of celiac disease or as a gluten intolerant, we find ourselves thrown into the task of finding gluten-free products to replace all those foods containing wheat, rye, barley and oats that we loved to eat–like bread, cookies, cakes and pastas. Our lives have suddenly become much more complicated.

A totally gluten-free diet means learning to cope with the creation of menus for three meals a day every day of the week with gluten free products most of which we’ve never heard of or even tasted. While some products on the market are good, some are only okay and many are so bad that you may as well eat the carton on the box it came in. At the start of your gluten-free diet, many of the foods you have purchased will end up in your garbage pail and leave you frustrated and on the verge of deciding to give up on gluten-free food after only trying a few things. How can you ease your suffering and find what products are the most tasty in the easiest way possible, avoiding the costly and time-consuming trial and error system? One of the best ways is to follow the crowd. Log onto the on-line celiac message boards and local support groups. Here the members will tell you in no uncertain terms what gluten-free products are worth eating and which should be avoided at all costs.

Since most people with celiac disease were diagnosed with the disease well into adulthood, they, like you, remember exactly what their favorite products tasted like. The modern gluten-free food manufacturer has a lot of work to do in the taste-pleasing department if he wants to keep his customers. Word of mouth spreads quickly in the celiac community. If a product meets or exceeds expectations, it quickly gains a following. If the product is tasteless, the word spreads just as quickly. There’s nothing that a person with celiac disease hates more than spending good money on bad food. What follows below are some foods to get you started on your way. We have carried out a survey of some of the best-loved gluten-free food along with the names of their manufacturers. K-Toos (cream-filled chocolate sandwich cookies similar to Oreos); KinniKritters (animal crackers) and Tapioca Rice Cinnamon Buns (cinnamon rolls) are some of the favorite products coming from Kinnikinnick manufactures. All Kinnikinnick products are manufactured in a gluten-free facility so there is no need to worry about cross-contamination. As they have over 100 products there are plenty of products to choose from.

If you are looking to go the mix route try looking in the health food sections for such popular mixes as Perfect Pie Crust, Chocolate Truffle Brownie Mix, Favorite Sandwich Bread and Angel Food Cake, all from the Glutino Food Group. Pamela’s Products is another well-recognized brand that deserves its place high on the list of favorite gluten-free brands. Their Amazing Wheat-Free Bread Mix is among the most popular due to its soft, bendable texture. Their Ultimate Baking and Pancake Mix comes in a large, 4-pound recloseable zipper bag! If you are looking for pasta, no list of the best gluten-free brands would be complete without mentioning Tinkyada Pasta which can be used instead of regular pasta to cook all your pre-gluten-free pasta-based family recipes like spaghetti, casseroles and lasagna. And the best part about their products, which come in all the traditional shapes such as spaghetti, fettuccine penne, spirals, lasagna, shells and elbow macaroni, is their taste and high quality which enables celiacs and non-celiacs to enjoy the same great meal.

You might be surprised at how easy it can be to live well on a gluten-free diet with some of these delicious, quality products in your kitchen.

So here’s to happy and tasty gluten-free eating!

What Are The Underlying Causes Of Depression And Stress To You?

What Are The Underlying Causes Of Depression And Stress To You?

When you say that the positive tendencies are the cause of happiness in an individual, in the same breath you can say that the negative tendencies are the cause of unhappiness. Well, extreme stress, anxiety and frustration pave a clear way towards depression.

It is the same old story through the ages- the eternal conflict between the Light and Darkness. These two forces can not exist at the same time at the same place. When the Light arrives, we need not order the darkness to go. It automatically disappears. Rather it has to. Similarly when the Light goes without thinking a wee-bit, Darkness arrives to boss over once again!

It is worthwhile here to contemplate over the common causes of depression and stress found in most of the people today. Distorted or ill-balanced economic condition is one major reason. Well, to have fallen short of the required funds shall not be the cause of your depression. With the right type of efforts, you can always overcome this trivial problem.

Next, your un-doings and wrong doings are one definite harbinger of depression and stress.

Nobody has ever said or ever proved that bad habits are good! Drinking alcohol, for example! Smoking is the other vice! If you drink and smoke regularly, can you really claim to be happy? You curse the habit always and yet you carry the curse on your head! This state of helplessness is one of the causes of your depression and stress.

An innocent looking habit like eating could also be the major cause of depression and stress. As the wise saying goes, “You should eat to live, not live to eat.” Human body for its proper maintenance requires certain discipline. Whether you are hungry or not, whether the food is wholesome or not you go on eating without worrying for the consequences. The type of food that you eat has a direct bearing on the various organs within the day. They are there to perform a particular type of job in a particular manner. Eating wrong type of food means extending invitation to obesity, heart failure and serious diseases like diabetes. These diseases could then cause serious types of depression and stress.

Coping with the various situations in life could also be the cause of depression and stress. Inability to cope with the circumstances can be due to your own creation or certain birth defects. Each one has limitations of performance. Sometimes the result you get may not be in proportion to the degree of efforts put forth by you. There is no sure or cut-out solution for meeting such situations. One needs to develop the right type of working philosophy in life. This can be achieved only by experience and gradually developing the expertise.

Make a periodical review of your habits, matters related to day-to-day disposition and try to identify the causes of depression and stress. Instead of going all out to reform yourself it is better to try to removes the deficiencies, one by one!

The springtime is the time when honeybees reproduce. The natural means of reproduction for honey bees is called swarming. The springtime swarming period typically last about three weeks. Normally a single swarm of honey bees divide and becomes two during the swarming period.

Because swarming typically means a loss of production so beekeepers try to discourage the behavior. One way that beekeepers eliminate swarming in their hives is by purchasing new bees each spring to replace their previous bees that they turned out of the hives the previous fall. Another method commonly used by beekeepers to discourage swarming is the creation of a starter colony. Creating a starter hive and then splitting it encourages bees to stay in their hives. Some beekeepers believe that bees only swarm when they have an abundance of food in the hive. Beekeepers who subscribe to this theory use a method called checker boarding to discourage their bees from swarming. When a beekeeper checkerboards their hives they remove some of the full frames of honey, giving the bees the illusion that they don’t have any honey in reserve, and therefore discouraging the bees from swarming.

It is unusual for a bees to swarm when there is a new queen in the bee hive. As time passes and the Queen ages is when the hive typically prepares to swarm, generally the elderly queen leaves with the primary swarm, leaving a virgin queen in her place. When the elderly queen is getting ready to swarm with the primary swarm she stops laying eggs. She concentrates on getting fit enough to fly when she leaves the hive (the only other time the queen has flown is when she went out on her nuptial flight). When smaller swarms leave the hive they are commonly accompanied by the virgin queen.

When they first leave the hive in a swarm, bees don’t typically go far from the hive they have always known. After fleeing the nest the bees settle on a nearby tree branch or under an eave. The worker bees cluster around the queen, protecting her. Once they have the queen protected, some bees, scouts, look around until they find a suitable hive to turn into their new home.

Some beekeepers see swarming as a way to restock their hives. An experienced bee keeper has no problem capturing a group of swarming bees. Beekeepers use a device to called a Nasrove Pheromone to lure swarming honey bees.
When they swarm, honey bees carry no additional food with them. The only honey they are allowed to take from the parent hive is the honey they consumed.
Although honey bees normally swarm only during the spring the same is not true of Africanized Bees, also called Killer Bees. The Africanized Bees swarm whenever they have a difficult time finding food.
Although they typically don’t go after people when they are swarming, their is something about the site of a swarm of bees that scares people. It is not unusual for a beekeeper to be called out to capture a colony of swarming bees.

Dr. Seuss Inspired Recipes – Your Kids Will Love These

Dr. Seuss Inspired Recipes – Your Kids Will Love These

What child doesn’t grow up with Dr. Seuss books? We have quite a few of them lying around the house. The kids love the silly characters and the rhymes. The Dr. Seuss inspired recipes that I’m about to share with you have been a great hit in my house. Of course the famous green eggs and ham are included, but there are also quite a few other snack and meal ideas. Create a fun Dr. Seuss inspired afternoon with some of these recipes and of course don’t forget to read a few of the books with your kids. (If you don’t own any, enjoy a trip to your local library.)

Green Eggs and Ham

This has to be the most famous Dr. Seuss inspired dish. Scramble a few eggs, add a couple of drops of blue food coloring to the mixture and cook as usual. You can serve a warmed up slice of ham with it, and if you want to go all out, brush the ham with a little green food coloring.

My kids love either biscuits, or mashed potatoes with this dish. Add a little food coloring (either green, or a complimentary color like red) to the biscuit dough or the finished mashed potatoes for even more fun.

Cat in The Hat Snack

Make the Cat’s Hat for a fun snack. All you need is a few Ritz crackers, gummy lifesavers (preferably in white/clear and red) and a little vanilla frosting. Put the Ritz cracker on a plate. Use a little bit of vanilla frosting to glue the first lifesaver on the cracker. “Glue” more lifesavers on top of the first one alternating between red and white.
These snacks are so cute; you may want to take a picture of your child’s creation before it is devoured.

Wiggly Fish

This snack was inspired by “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish”. Prepare several different colors of Jello according to package directions and pour each flavor into a shallow pan. Use a fish shaped cookie cutter to cut the Jello into fish shapes. (If you don’t have a fish shaped cookie cutter you could also just cut fish shapes with a knife.) You can also add small pieces of fruit to the Jello mixture before it cools. This is a great way to sneak an extra serving of fruit into your child’s diet.

Pink Ink for The Yink

The Yink in “One Fish, Two Fish” love to drink pink ink. Make your own version by combining a few strawberries (either fresh, or frozen and thawed) and some milk in a blender. Add a few drops of red food coloring if the “ink” isn’t pink enough.

A Fruity Hat For The Cat

How about this for a fun Sunday breakfast? Whip up a batch of silver dollar pancakes and cut up some fresh strawberries. Grab some whipped cream and let the kids assemble the Cat’s hat by stacking pancakes, and strawberries on top of each other using the whipped cream as “glue”.

Enjoy a few of these Dr. Seuss inspired snacks and meals with your family, or invite a few neighbor kids over for a Dr. Seuss party. Either way they are a lot of fun and a great way to bring some of the Seuss stories to life.

Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Cooking (4)

Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Cooking

Food is such an essential part of our lives. Cooking is a survival skill, but it can also be a passion. The love and effort that can go into cooking even the simplest dish can shine through to the recipients of this food. By showing respect for your ingredients and paying attention to some small details, you can make the very most of your food no matter what ingredients to which you have access.

Garlic is one of the more pungent odors that you will ever experience, and you will want to have tricks to get rid of it as soon as possible. Here is a suggestion, after you cook something with garlic, rub your hands on the base of your stainless steel sink for a minute to eliminate the pungent odor off of your skin.

The secret to a great mole sauce is the cocoa powder. Take a cue from Mexican mole and try using a bit of cocoa powder in your typical Italian pasta sauces, as well. A touch of cocoa powder imparts a “been simmering for days” Flavor and complexity, while not being too overpowering.

Learn to make a good roux. When you are learning to make the best bases for your cooking, consider learning the art of making a roux. It consists of mixing oils, fats, or butters and cooking with flour. If you enjoy making Cajun or French foods, roux is a mainstay.

When you are making casseroles, roasts, and other things that may stick to the bottom of a baking sheet, you should line the bottom of the pan with foil. This is a good idea because after you are done cooking you can throw the foil away and you will not have a lot of cleaning up to do.

Leftover vegetable pieces shouldn’t go to waste. Broccoli tops, carrot pieces and onion peelings can be added to your vegetable, beef or chicken stock, to fill it with extra flavor. Don’t forget to add the stock to your favorite meals to enhance their flavor and appear as a great cook in front of your friends and family.

Salvage an overcooked soup or stew. If you left the heat too high when cooking soup or stew, you may end up scorching it, but all is not lost. If you only burnt the bottom, carefully pour or ladle the rest of the food into a container, ensuring that you don’t scrape the sides or bottom of the pot. Be sure to sample it to double-check that there isn’t a burnt taste!

Someone can juice fruits and vegetables if they want to be sneaky when adding nutrients to their children’s foods. The juice can be poured in with other juices or it can be added to soups. Someone could also turn the juice into homemade pop cycles which will be hard for kids to resist.

Maple Syrup Ham and Sweet Potatoes with Marshmallows

One of the most requested types of food to eat at Easter is ham and you can sweeten up the taste of it by adding some tasty maple syrup. Easter Bunny Carrot Cake

Easter Bunny carrot cake is an awesome way to add color and excitement for the whole family. What goes better with bunny rabbits than carrots and a yummy carrot cake goes with any Easter dinner. Easter Cocktails

For those adults that like to top off their dinner with a delicious alcoholic beverage, there are many colorful cocktails that compliment the mood of any Easter dinner. For example, certain liquors come in various colors such as grenadine for rose, blue Curacao for cerulean and mixing clear liquor with assorted fruit juices for multicolored Easter drinks. For those that prefer a cocktail sans the alcohol, it’s easy to add color to your event with a host of fresh fruit smoothies, just by adding fresh fruit with cream or milk. Some people even add some yogurt to the mix.

The NFL & United Way

The NFL & United Way

There are many ways that NFL players help with the United Way. First of all, they donate a lot of their valuable time to personally venture out into the community to help those in need. This is not something that they’re required to do as National Football League players, but most of them just enjoy making families happy. They feel good about themselves when they are able to help needy families put food on the tables for their hungry children. They feel especially good upon seeing smiles on happy children’s faces at Christmas time. Many children would not otherwise have a Christmas if it weren’t for the generosity of the NFL players. These pro players feel that since they have been blessed with a talent that allows them to make large amounts of money that they want to help every disadvantaged person that they can.

A second way that many NFL players help the United Way is by donating their time and money to help build homes for homeless families with children. This is usually done through the local Habitat for Humanity. Some of the pro players even get out and get soiled as they assist in the creation of these homes. They don’t feel like they’re above manual labor, which is why they don’t mind doing this to help people. They think about how many of these under-privileged families live in overcrowded shelters, and sometimes even in their vehicles, and their heart goes out to them. If the pro player can do something to help prevent this problem, then they will.

Another way that professional football players help out the United Way is by helping to plan fundraising events to raise money for all types of programs: Housing, food, special Christmas funds, education, recreational activities, etc.

The community sure appreciates all that these wonderful NFL players do to help disadvantaged youths. It’s not required, but they do it because they are fine, caring individuals who want to give back to their community. Maybe some the children who they provide help for will someday grow up to be professional football players. That would certainly make the NFL player feel good, if they were the reason that a young person had enough confidence to pursue their dreams.

The NFL will continue to help children and their community through the United Way, and hopefully this can help to eliminate poverty in some areas. It would certainly make the NFL even more appreciated than they are currently.

Reasons To Breast Feed

Reasons To Breast Feed

For many years, scientists have been playing out
the ingredients that make breast milk the perfect
food for babies. They’ve discovered to day over
200 close compounds to fight infection, help the
immune system mature, aid in digestion, and support
brain growth – nature made properties that science
simply cannot copy.

The important long term benefits of breast feeding
include reduced risk of asthma, allergies, obesity,
and some forms of childhood cancer. The more that
scientists continue to learn, the better breast
milk looks.

In addition to making your baby healthier, breast
feeding may also make him smarter. Many studies
have proved that breast fed babies tend to be
more smarter than babies who were fed with formula
or other methods. Breast feeding does help with
nutrients and the support of brain growth, which
is something every mother should think about.

The benefits for the nursing mom are just as
good as they are for the baby. The hormones that
are released during breast feeding will curb
blood loss post delivery and help to shrink the
uterus back to it’s normal size.

Long term, the breast feeding mom will have a
lower risk for premenopausal breast cancer,
which is the kind that strikes before the age
of 50. The benefits will begin to show with
three to six months of breast feeding and increase
the longer that breast feeding continues.

By now, you should realize that breast milk is
one power packed liquid. It offers more for your
baby than formula, or any other scientific
creation for that matter. As you begin to plan
for the future of your baby, make a commitment
to breast feeding him for as long as you possibly
can – as it will do both your bodies good.

Charts on sports nutrition: Guides for a healthier, sportier bod

Charts on sports nutrition: Guides for a healthier, sportier bod

Athletics is an endeavor that has become increasingly lucrative as time goes by. The modern world has come up with more and more ways to expound the potential of athletes in the most convenient ways possible. A wide variety of exercise and diet programs have been conceived to make sure that the body achieves its highest potential.

To aid the athletes in becoming the demi-gods of physical fitness, business have launched many products such as vitamins and exercise gadgets. Media has provided lots of information that can assist anyone who is into getting fit. Resources such as books, videos and other instructional materials have bombarded their way right into cyberspace.

As examples, here are some very helpful knowledge from several charts on sports nutrition which disseminates information coming from some experts in physical fitness.

The web site of the University of Illinois Extension featured a food guide system that helps in evaluating the effectiveness of one’s diet. This pyramid training table guide provided five divisions of food groups, each division equipped with the list of major nutrients supplied by those foods included in the group.

Here are the food groups from the chart that can help enhance a diet:

1. Milk, cheese and yogurt Group

Gives calcium, protein, riboflavin and vitamin A.

2. Vegetable Group

Sources of vitamins and minerals, especially vitamins C and A. Includes veggies such as spinach, tomatoes and broccoli.

3. Meat, fish, eggs, nuts and beans Group
Primary protein source. Also contains iron, thiamin and zinc.

Another useful chart on sports nutrition gives off the main functions of the four main nutrients needed by the body and the recommended intake for each.

Carbohydrates – It is the primary source of energy which is especially needed for the majority of bodily functions. Carbs are essential for high-intensity exercise.

Water – the most important nutrient mainly because the human body is composed of sixty percent of it. Water reduces body fat, eliminates toxins and waste, aids in the maintenance of muscle tone and also keeps the skin moist and healthy. It helps regulate body temperature especially during intense workouts.

Protein – Responsible for the growth of body tissue and the creation of hormones, enzymes and antibodies. It is also responsible for the balance of electrolytes and fluid in the body.

Fat – It also provides energy and also maintains body temperature. Fats protect the organs and carries fatty acids essential to the body.

Another chart on sports nutrition gives great food alternatives for those who want to knock off considerable amount of calories from their diet. Here are examples:

-Have English muffins or half portion of a bagel instead of donuts for snacks or breakfast.
-Use 2 egg whites instead of 1 whole egg for cooking.
-Drink water in place of sodas or canned fizzy beverages.
-Opt for skinless chicken instead of the deep-fried variety.
-Put in non-fat dry milk in coffee instead of regular creamers.
-Enjoy jams in place of butter when having bagels and toasts.
-Use light dressings, oils or vinegars over regular dressings when making salads.
-Order pizza with lots of veggies instead of the ones with loads of cheese.

Gastric Bypass Surgery And Weight Loss

Gastric Bypass Surgery And Weight Loss

Gastric bypass (also called bariatric surgery) closes off a large portion of the stomach, leaving only a pouch the size of an egg. Gastric bypass works by restricting food intake. Patients feel full after eating small amounts of food. Fewer calories are eaten and weight is lost. Gastric bypass patients typically lose 70% of their excess weight, most of it in the first year after surgery.

Gastric bypass surgery combines the creation of a small stomach pouch to restrict food intake and construction of bypasses of the duodenum and other segments of the small intestine to cause malabsorption (decreased ability to absorb nutrients from food).

There are two types of gastric bypass surgery: Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RGB) and extensive gastric bypass (biliopancreatic diversion).

Roux-en-Y gastric bypass is the most common gastric bypass procedure performed in the U.S. First, a small stomach pouch is created by stapling part of the stomach together or by vertical banding. This limits how much food you can eat. Next, a Y-shaped section of the small intestine is attached to the pouch to allow food to bypass the duodenum as well as the first portion of the jejunum. This causes reduced calorie and nutrient absorption. This procedure can now be done with a laparoscope (a thin telescope-like instrument for viewing inside the abdomen) in some people. This involves using small incisions and generally has a more rapid recovery time.

In extensive gastric bypass – a more complicated gastric bypass operation – the lower portion of the stomach is removed. The small pouch that remains is connected directly to the final segment of the small intestine, thus completely bypassing both the duodenum and jejunum. Although this procedure successfully promotes weight loss, it is not as widely used because of the high risk for nutritional deficiencies.

Gastric bypass operations that cause malabsorption and restrict food intake produce more weight loss than restriction operations, which only decrease food intake. People who have bypass operations generally lose two-thirds of their excess weight within 2 years.

There are risks associated with gastric bypass surgery. People who undergo this procedure are at risk for: pouch stretching (stomach gets bigger overtime, stretching back to its normal size before surgery), band erosion (the band closing off part of the stomach disintegrates), breakdown of staple lines (band and staples fall apart, reversing procedure), leakage of stomach contents into the abdomen (this is dangerous because the acid can eat away other organs), nutritional deficiencies causing health problems.

Gastric bypass operations also may cause “dumping syndrome,” whereby stomach contents move too rapidly through the small intestine. Symptoms include nausea, weakness, sweating, faintness, and, occasionally, diarrhea after eating, as well as the inability to eat sweets without becoming extremely weak. Gallstones can occur in response to rapid weight loss. They can be dissolved with medication taken after the surgery.

The limited absorption of vitamin B12 and iron can cause anemia. The lack of calcium absorption can cause osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease. People who undergo this procedure are required to take nutritional supplements that usually prevent these deficiencies. The more extensive the bypass operation, the greater is the risk for complications and nutritional deficiencies. People who undergo extensive bypasses of the normal digestive process require not only close monitoring, but also lifelong use of special foods and medications.

Low carbs, the bottom line: you may lose weight quicker on a low-carbohydrate diet than on a diet to cut calories. However, don’t expect to lose as much weight as diet books say you will and remember that the risks of heart disease, stroke, cancer, and osteoporosis for people on low-carb diets have not been tested. There’s plenty of research that shows the way to go is moderation in eating a diet rich in fruits, veggies, beans, whole grains, seafood, poultry, and low-fat dairy products.

Learn The Best Cooking Tips And Tricks Here (4)

Learn The Best Cooking Tips And Tricks Here

Food is such an essential part of our lives. Cooking is a survival skill, but it can also be a passion. The love and effort that can go into cooking even the simplest dish can shine through to the recipients of this food. By showing respect for your ingredients and paying attention to some small details, you can make the very most of your food no matter what ingredients to which you have access.

Cook a hard boiled egg properly. It is very simple to cook the perfect hard boiled egg if you follow these simple instructions. Pierce the raw egg at its rounded end, where there is a little air space. This will make the egg easier to peel. Lower the egg into hot water and bring to a boil. Cook for 10 minutes at a gentle boil. When they are done, drain the water and shake the pan. This will crack the egg shells. Fill with cold water, and allow to stand until the eggs are completely cold.

Purchase a quality pair of kitchen shears, and make sure that everyone in your family knows they are intended for food only. You can use shears to snip herbs, cut bacon, remove bones from meat, and a variety of other purposes, but they won’t do you any good if they stray from the kitchen or get used on craft projects.

Try cooking your favorite baked casseroles in muffin tins. Not only will you have individually-sized servings, but each person can have some of the crispy, brown edge pieces. As a bonus, the casserole freezes well in these portion-sized pieces, so you can pull out leftovers for lunches and thaw them more quickly.

Always use the freshest ingredients you can find for your cooking. Fruit, vegetables, meat and seafood all taste better when they are fresh. Besides better taste, fresh ingredients are usually healthier than pre-packaged, canned or frozen ones. Fresh foods have superior nutritional content and lack the unhealthy additives found in packaged foods.

Save the stems of herbs like cilantro, parsley, or dill! Do not discard them! The stems have just as much flavor as the leaves. You can chop or snip them into soups, salads, sauces and other dishes – just as you would use their leaves. This leaves less unnecessary waste and lets you get more bang for your buck, if you purchased the herbs!

When you are making a killer sandwich, slow down and spread the mayo starting at the corners so that it covers every centimeter of the bread. People tend to just sloppily spread the mayonnaise across the center of the bread. That makes the edges far less flavorful than the middle.

The love and effort that can go into cooking even the simplest dish can shine through to the recipients of this food. By showing respect for your ingredients and paying attention to some small details, you can make the very most of your food no matter what ingredients to which you have access.

To make hard boiled eggs easier to peel, try running them under cold water. Once they’ve cooled, roll them across your counter until the shell begins to crack, and then run them under the cold water again. Start peeling them at the egg’s widest end. This is where the egg’s air pocket is, which will help the shell come off more easily.

Carrots are a tasty and inexpensive staple that can be used in many ways. Raw carrots cut into strips of convenient sizes are great snacks and popular with many kids, but can also be baked in popular dishes like carrot cakes, tossed into salads, or blanched and glazed with honey.

When deep-frying foods, use long tongs to place the pieces in the oil, but hold them just under the oil’s surface for a few seconds before releasing. This helps the outside of the food begin to cook, sealing the surface and preventing it from sticking to the bottom of the fryer or pot.

Use oils for flavor. When using oil in uncooked sauces or dressing, be sure to use a high quality oil. The flavor of regular cooking oil will ruin your dish. Extra-virgin olive oil, with its fruity flavor, is a must for uncooked sauces such as aioli, or raw tomato sauce. A green salad will benefit from a simple dressing of extra-virgin olive oil and vinegar. Hazelnut and walnut oil have a delicate flavor that is suitable for ‘light’ sauces and dressings.

When cooking with oil, use coconut oil whenever possible. It is one of the most heat stable oils and very well-suited for high temperature cooking and frying. It is very slow to oxidize and won’t go rancid as quickly as other oils. It has a high smoke point of 280 degrees fahrenheit.

If you cook using only recipes from your favorite cookbook, try something new. Getting a few new cookbooks of different varieties is the first step towards diversifying the meals you cook. Experimenting and playing around with your current recipes is the second step towards not just making new meals, but becoming a better cook.

When it comes to baking, a great tip to follow is to be sure that you bake smaller items at higher temperatures and for less time than larger items. This is important because you will have your food quicker and it will be less dry than if you were to bake it slower.

Creating a Corporate Image

Creating a Corporate Image

For any corporation it is very important to create a distinct image in the market. This is known as Corporate Image which distinguishes the corporation from its competitors and provides a picture of it to the general public. It depicts the principles, beliefs, productivity of the company. This image is responsible for increasing the sales of the product and to achieve brand equity. Corporate image creation is a strenuous and time consuming process and is carried out by experts qualifying in perception management. Basically, the creation involves marketing experts who used various kinds of promotion methods and public relations. Since this image is targeted to attract the customers it should be highly appealing. Besides the marketing experts critics play an important role too.

The name of the corporation and its catch line should reflect its belief like Wal-Mart, which says that it sells for less. A logo should also be designed accordingly. Like the corporation FedEx has an arrow incorporated in its logo which depicts its fast and efficient service. Once the image is created by the corporation the next step is advertising and product distribution in the market. Like if the corporation creates luxury products, they should rope in big names in the advertising experts and the models to be featured in these ads should be super stars. Likewise, they should not distribute their products to every other store; instead they should target more hi-fi malls. Time to time, advertising and branding budget should be reviewed to cut down on cost and to be in-sync with the technology. This also helps in revamping the corporate image according to the fast changing demands of the consumer.

Testimonies of news papers, magazines, and labor union can deteriorate a well-created corporate image. Simplest of controversies can be exaggerated by the media and spoil the name of the company. Controversies are born by the interference of organizations related to environment, religion, crime, politics, education and charity. Government, too, is another powerful and influential organization by itself.

Once the corporate image is created, it should be retained. It should not be like here today and gone tomorrow. This image should be reflected in all the brands and product line of the corporation. Even if one of the products isn’t up to the mark, it will lead to confusion among the consumers and will hit the sales of the company. Like recently there was controversy about a particular contact lens solution of a company. It was supposed to be infecting the users with a rare disease. This not only affected the sales revenue of that particular product but also made the customers think and raise question about the authenticity of other products of that particular company.

Another company’s products had hidden non-vegetarian ingredient in a vegetarian product. This led to the decrease of trust among the customers. In such a case the company should either advertise itself as a company selling non-vegetarian food or it should invest in promoting the company as vegetarian by introducing more vegetarian products. So the image of each individual product of the company makes up for the complete image of the corporation. And last but not the least, the image should be very realistic, truly representing its values and should leave a personal touch with the consumers.

Cook Like A Pro In No Time (3)

Cook Like A Pro In No Time

Food is such an essential part of our lives. Cooking is a survival skill, but it can also be a passion. The love and effort that can go into cooking even the simplest dish can shine through to the recipients of this food. By showing respect for your ingredients and paying attention to some small details, you can make the very most of your food no matter what ingredients to which you have access.

Don’t use prepared seasoning mixes when you cook, especially if you have high blood pressure. These mixes often have a high sodium content. Instead, use fresh herbs and spices, or make sure you choose a low-salt mix. For more flavor, try adding lemon or lime zest or a few chili peppers to your meal.

If you are faced with cooking a meal for someone who you simply must impress, show some restraint when mixing things up in the kitchen. While it is okay to cook with a new or uncommon ingredient or to use a brand new recipe, it is not a good idea to risk it by attempting both.

Never use oil that has been used for other foods or has been sitting in a frying pan for a long time. It will give your food a foul taste. If you are unsure if the oil is good enough to cook with, smell it and use your finger to try a little of it.

Always continue to taste test all of your food as you cook them. Cooking a sauce, and you’re not sure if it needs more salt? Just taste it and you’ll know right away. Getting into a habit of testing all of your foods will keep you from accidentally over-spicing or under-spicing it.

Make sure you spread out your condiments when making a sandwich. Most people rush through the early steps of making a sandwich. They spread their condiments around in the middle rather than making sure they cover the entire piece of bread. Cover your bread from corner to corner with condiments for flavor in every bite.

When storing items in your kitchen, you will want to make sure that they are stored in containers that are airtight and closed tightly for two reasons. While most foods will go stale having constant exposure to air, another big fear is that the product will be taken over by bugs.

Invest some time reading recipes before you actually attempt them. You will save time, and possibly money. Understanding all the components needed for a recipe beforehand will not only allow you to make sure that you have them, but it can also prevent you from making mistakes that can waste your time and ingredients.

Biotech Careers Heating Up

Biotech Careers Heating Up

Biotechnology has been around for centuries. From farming to food production and storage, biotechnology has touched our lives in numerous helpful ways.

As baby boomers age, there has been an increased demand for new medical procedures and equipment. As a result, biomedical engineering, a field that combines medicine with engineering and biology, is expected to grow in the next decade and beyond.

With an insight into both medical and engineering fields, biomedical engineers work effectively in hospitals, research facilities, academia, government regulatory agencies or as consultants.

Biomechanics, which applies biomechanical engineering to biological or medical problems, utilizes scientific principles to produce new ways of keeping the body functional and healthy. These include the creation of synthetic organs and joints, as well as machines that control body functions, imaging systems like X-ray and ultrasound, and the laser systems used in corrective eye surgery.

As a result of these advances, the medical community has a better understanding of how certain organs and musculoskeletal systems function.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, biomedical engineering is expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through 2014. While a bachelor’s in engineering is required, a graduate degree in engineering is also recommended for most entry-level bioengineering jobs. Many universities offer accredited engineering graduate programs.

Professional organizations, such as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), can help students interested in pursuing biotechnology careers.

ASME promotes the interests of its members and keeps them informed of industry developments. Additionally, networking opportunities offered by the organization can help students find jobs and get on the right career track.

Great Tips For Cooking Like A Chef

Great Tips For Cooking Like A Chef

Food is such an essential part of our lives. Cooking is a survival skill, but it can also be a passion. The love and effort that can go into cooking even the simplest dish can shine through to the recipients of this food. By showing respect for your ingredients and paying attention to some small details, you can make the very most of your food no matter what ingredients to which you have access.

It is possible to cook healthy without abandoning all of the rich, creamy dressings that can contribute so much flavor. One method is to use Greek-style yogurt as a replacement for mayonnaise. Half of the mayonnaise called for in the recipe should be replaced with the yogurt. This will give the same great taste while cutting down on the unhealthy effects of the mayo.

When you are going to fry a food, use long tongs to add food to the oil. For about five seconds, hold the food just underneath the surface of the oil and release it. By placing a food into oil this way, the exterior of the food will be sealed and it will not likely stick to the pan.

If you make your own salad dressing, consider using yogurt as a substitute to half the mayo. By doing this, you drastically cut the fat and calories in the dressing. When you use Greek-style yogurt, you ensure your homemade dressing is just as delicious and creamy – just not as bad for you!

If you’re cooking with cast-iron pots and pans – never clean with soap, unless you want to lose its non-stick properties! Instead, use a paste of salt and water to scour the pan, if needed, or boil some water in the pot or pan to loosen stuck-on foods. Remove the remaining residue with a paper towel, and rub on a thin layer of oil before storing.

When cooking pasta to use with sauce, reserve about a quarter to a third of a cup of the pasta water before you drain the pot. Adding this starchy water to the sauce will help the sauce to thicken slightly and become a bit stickier, which allows it to better adhere to your pasta.

Choose cuts of meat when roasting. Large rib roasts or tenderloin can be terribly expensive. When roasting meat, consider buying a cut of meat instead. It will save you a lot of money. Legs of lamb, turkey breasts, even pork shoulder are all capable of being just as delicious while being far more affordable.

You may or may not have heard of schmaltz, but it is a very useful component when cooking. Schmaltz, otherwise known as chicken fat, is very rich. The flavor of schmaltz is deeper than duck fat and can be used for many things, such as cooking meats or poaching fish.

We Need Energy Vitamins

We Need Energy Vitamins

With the ever changing lifestyles in today’s modern world, it seems that more and more people are mobile and always on the run. A lot of people are into numerous activities, whether it is related to work or leisure that they end up down and tired at the end of a day. Our body needs these so called energy vitamins to keep our bodies up and running the whole day.

If you take a look at what a typical diet an individual consumes in today’s time, you would find that a lot of the food that a person is taking in is made up of processed food that has a lot of preservatives. You have to agree with me that with the busy lives we are leading, most of us do not have the luxury of time to prepare a well balanced meal for ourselves let alone for our family. Many of us rely on fast food, take out, delivery, restaurants and microwavable meals. These types of food only give us a small fraction of the important vitamins and minerals that we need to have more than enough energy to last us the entire day.

B vitamins or the energy vitamins are crucial of the production of energy for the body. If you want an energetic and long life, it is essential that you have enough of this vitamin for being deficient in them may lead to serious health problems.

The B complex vitamins include B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9, B12 and biotin. There is a chance for people to be deficient in the B vitamins because they are easily washed out of the body system.

All of the B complex vitamins are important and necessary in the creation of the needed energy for the body. Thiamine (B1) is crucial for well functioning immune system and has an important role in metabolism. It is usually the seniors who have low levels of this vitamin and is evidenced by weakness and poor memory. Riboflavin (B2) is needed for the utilization of oxygen in our body. Niacin (B3) helps treat neurological diseases and high cholesterol. Pantothenic Acid (B5) is required in the production of stress hormones and is otherwise known as the stress vitamin. Pyridoxine (B6) and Folic Acid (B9) work hand in hand to lower the risk of heart disease and stroke. Cobalamin (B12) is necessary in forming blood cells.

Indeed there is so much that these vitamins could do. It is a team effort for the B vitamins and they work best together. Ask your doctor about taking a B complex supplement.

Handy Advice To Aid You In The Kitchen 2

Handy Advice To Aid You In The Kitchen

Food is such an essential part of our lives. Cooking is a survival skill, but it can also be a passion. The love and effort that can go into cooking even the simplest dish can shine through to the recipients of this food. By showing respect for your ingredients and paying attention to some small details, you can make the very most of your food no matter what ingredients to which you have access.

Try plunging your veggies in a container of ice water right after you blanch them so that they do not become pale and unattractive. The ice water will allow them to settle without losing their appetizing, bright colors. This is especially important when serving food at functions where pleasing aesthetics at the table are a primary goal.

If you are in the process of chopping up a lot of herbs for one of your recipes you should try putting a little salt on your cutting board before you get started. That will stop the herbs from flying all over the place and making a very big mess.

When you are planning to cook a big meal try prepping all of your foods the day before. This will help you save time and it will also be less mess to clean up after the big dinner. Chop all vegetables and cut up all your meat and store appropriately.

To keep salt in shakers fresh and dry, add uncooked white rice to the shaker. The rice will absorb any moisture from the environment instead of the salt, and stops the salt from dissolving or caking. Rice is not noticeable in a glass shaker and is too large to be shaken out with normal use.

Do not flip your food too often. Flipping not only affects the sear on a piece of meat, but it can cause delicate foods to break and may cause the breading to slip off of pan-fried foods. Wait until the food slips easily off the pan or the food is halfway through its cooking time so that you only need to flip it once.

If you want to keep your cookies fresh in the cookie jar, a good way to do so is to crinkle up some tissue paper at the bottom of the jar. The paper will absorb all of the moisture instead of your cookies, keeping them fresh and ready to eat.

When you are boiling rice, pasta, or vegetables it is very important that you salt the boiling water before placing the food in the pot. This helps the salt absorb, and it will taste better than if you add salt to the food after it has already been cooked.

Open Source

Open Source

In general, the term open source refers to the principles and methodologies to promote open access to the production and design process for various goods, products, and resources. The term is most commonly used in reference to source code of software that is made available to the general public with either relaxed or non-existent intellectual property restrictions.

Open source allows users to create user-generated software content through either incremental individual effort or through collaboration. In layman’s terms, open source means that software is made available to the general public for download. People can then either work alone or with others to change the software, make it better, and re-distribute it.

Some consider open source as one of various possible design approaches while others consider it a critical strategic element of their operations. Before open source became widely adopted, developers and producers used a variety of phrases to describe the concept. With the rise of the Internet and its enabling of diverse production models, communication paths, and interactive communities, the term open source gained popularity.

In 1998, Netscape released a new source code for its version of an Internet web browser called Navigator. It was at this time that the term and concept of open source was introduced. The idea was to release the company of the connotations that come with the terminology of free software. They licensed and released their code as open source under the name Mozilla.

Open source development has grown in popularity over the years and has even started a movement among proponents of the concept. Open source has extended beyond the software market into other areas of production such as food as well as health and science.

There are many places that facilitate the open source methodology. The creation of blogs is one way to distribute information among the public. Message boards on the Internet are another outlet. These message boards are thought to be one of the integral ways to grow the open source movement as people can freely discuss and implement changes to various programs and products with the convenience of the Internet.

The open source movement is not without its critics. Those against open source say that direct compensation for intellectual property is essential to the creation of various new technologies. They say that there is no real incentive to develop new products when they are available for free. Critics also say that open source causes a chaotic environment when many people are working on the same projects with little to no leadership.

Whatever side of the fence you are on, the fact remains that open source is a wave of the future and will hold new and exciting developments in various areas of consumer life. Open source, whether good or bad, is here to stay.

Lombardy – The Other Side of Italian Food

Lombardy – The Other Side of Italian Food

There are many different factors that merge to create the style of Italian food eaten in a particular region of Italy. A great example of this is the Lombardy region. The land here dictates what ingredients are used in the Italian food and hence what type of dishes will emerge.

The biggest feature of this region is the vast plains. These plains allow for an abundance of cattle and these cattle greatly affect the type of Italian food found in this area. For instance, while most people think of olive oil in conjunction with Italian food, in this region butter is much more popular. There is also a lot of cream used in the food here; again not something most people associate with Italian food. These distinct differences from the general ideas of Italian food are due to the abundance of cattle found in the region.

Cheese is a very important ingredient in the Italian food here. One important cheese is the robiola. This cheese is part of the Stracchino family and is a soft-ripened cheese that is distinctly Italian. It is made from a blend of cow, goat, and sheep’s milk. The proportions of the different milks are distinct to different areas of the region and so it is possible to taste several different samples of the cheese, each with its own distinct flavor. Grana padano is also a very important cheese to the region. This is a hard, grainy cheese made from cows milk and aged anywhere from eight to twenty-four months. This cheese is important in the history of Italian food. It was invented by monks who used ripened cheese as a method of preserving extra milk. By 1477 this cheese was one of the most famous cheeses in the world and it certainly hasn’t lost any luster with the passing years.

Another distinct feature of this area’s Italian food is the use of single pot dishes. These are dishes which take less work to create and are therefore more popular amongst the working class of the area. Polenta is very popular as is rice. There are many different risottos that are common in the area as well as rice based soups. A popular version of risotto here is flavored with saffron. Another dish that is immensely popular and has made the region famous is its traditional ravioli with pumpkin filling. While ravioli is popular with Italian food lovers most have never had it with pumpkin filling. It is also served with melted butter and is often followed by turkey traditionally stuffed with stewed meats or chicken. True to the picture of Italian food the area boasts yet another unique pasta dish, this one with a twist as well. It is a dish of buckwheat pasta with potatoes, Swiss chard, butter, and Bitto cheese.

Of course you can’t overlook the importance of desserts in the Italian food of Lombardy. The region boasts a few sweet dishes. They make a traditional Christmas bread made with yeast dough and dotted with candied citrus peel, raisins, and candied fruits. An even sweeter Italian food creation is torrone. This nougat confection is made from honey, sugar and egg white. It is then coated with crushed, toasted almonds. The last unique dish to the area is actually a condiment made of boiled fruits seasoned with mustard. This region really does expand a person’s view of Italian food.

Private Label Drinking Water and Weddings – Pure Water for Special Occasions

Private Label Drinking Water and Weddings – Pure Water for Special Occasions

For most people, the wedding is a very important event in their lives. The joining of two people and the creation of a new family is one of the most meaningful occasions in a person’s life.

Weddings are complex and memorable events. Weddings take extensive planning and good execution as a great number of people come together to celebrate the occasion. Both the wedding itself and the related reception, showers and pre-wedding parties can benefit from custom designed private label drinking water.

One very effective way to establish a theme and create reminders of the memorable occasion is private label drinking water. Since a wedding is celebratory with food and refreshments for a large number of persons, private label drinking water serves a number of functions:

• The label can be designed to celebrate the occasion with quality designed artwork that reflects a custom message and theme
• The drinking water in the bottle is refreshing and healthy
• Many of the participants will save the water as a memory of the event
• The private label water can be combined with other items to create memorable party favors and gift baskets

Private label drinking water affords a wedding planner the ability to create a custom designed label with a very personalized message that meets the specification of the wedding couple. Since the event is personal, an individualized thematic message can be created. With the proper technology, high quality individualized graphics can also be added to create a personalized memory.

Personalized Bottled Water Memories

Personalized bottled water is an excellent way to preserve the memory of the wedding event. With a custom designed label for every occasion, the water can be consumed at the wedding or at a later date. In addition, personalized bottled water is ideal for the common theme of the wedding and associated wedding parties.

The technology is available to create a cost effective, high-quality personalized label that imparts a lasting message. Application of a custom designed label to a quality water bottle adds a powerful and distinctive message and advertising component to a high-quality refreshment drink.

Often referred to as consumable advertising, personalized bottled water can include graphics and pictures as well as text that can refer to a specific wedding event and can often be modified for subsequent events. Designed labels can also be stored for future use and other occasions like anniversaries and birth announcements.

An important feature of branded drinking water is the long term nature of the message. Many people who receive private label water tend to retain the bottles because of the uniqueness and quality of the label.

Create a Personal Message and Brand

Although brand creation has been identified in the corporate world, individuals can also create their own brand image related to their own interests. Private label water for weddings and anniversaries, the golfer, hunter, fisherman or sports car enthusiast for example can convey a personal message or one related to an individual’s club or organization; personalized branding can also create interest and enjoyment at future events or family gatherings.

The key to the creation of an effective message is through the development of a unique and focused idea that is simple yet powerful. As a result, care must be taken during label design to maintain quality and keep the message as simple as possible.

The Element of Quality

An overriding feature in the creation of personalized bottled water is the consideration of quality in three areas:

• Quality of water

The basic element of private label bottled water is, of course, water. However, there are many differences in the quality of bottled water. Ultra-pure bottled water produced by a combination of the distillation, filtration and oxygenation processes is considered by many to be of the best quality because it tastes very good and does not contain minerals, contaminants or bacteria.

• Quality of packaging

Since personalized bottled water combines health, refreshment and advertising, the packaging component must make a bold and forthright statement. Substandard bottle quality will seriously compromise the strength of the message.

• Quality of labeling design, printing and application

The label is the most significant part of private label drinking water; the message must be communicated in the strongest and clearest way in order to extend its original intent to the consumer. The label should be developed by a graphics designer or with technology that will aid the consumer in developing their own quality image. Printing is especially critical and the printing process should create labels that are guaranteed to have the same quality of any top-shelf brand in your gourmet or quality food store.

All labels should be waterproof and preferably laminated to ensure a long service life.

What to Look For In a Private Label Water Supplier

Personalized bottled water has become increasingly popular for personal life style events. This is particularly true with the advent of e-commerce that allows users the ability to design a label and purchase water online.

Quality is critical because the label serves as a statement for the individual. If any portion of the water, package or label combination contains substandard quality, then the entire product is compromised.

Reliable vendors with a reputation for quality, customer service and the ability to design labels and provide online service will almost always guarantee customer satisfaction.

The Evolution Of Pizza

The Evolution Of Pizza

Trying to trace the history of the first pizza is a surprisingly controversial subject. Some claim that this popular food is based on early unleavened breads served in the early centuries in Rome. Others trace a connection from modern pizza back to the pita breads of Greece.

It’s fairly well established that the first pizza as we know it today was created by a man named Raffaele Esposito from Naples, Italy. Esposito’s creation was designed to honor the visit of Queen Margherita to Naples in 1889, and he decorated it with the colors of the Italian flag, using white cheese, green basil, and red tomatoes (tomatoes, which had arrived from the west about 60 years earlier, were originally thought to be poisonous, but by Esposito’s time they were already embraced by Italian cuisine).

As the years passed and the turn of the century came about, Italian immigrants brought this recipe with them to America. The first pizzeria was opened in America in 1905. It remained popular almost exclusively among immigrants until the end of World War II, when American soldiers returned to their home soil and brought back a love of the pizza they had discovered overseas. With that, the pizza boom in America began and this food became a mainstream meal instead of an underground Italian snack.

The concentration of Italian immigrants in New York in those olden days explains the fact that many people feel you must visit New York to get true pizzeria-style pizza. It’s where the pizza got its American start, after all. And nobody who has experienced New York style pizza can disagree. New York is famous for its pizzerias, where a true slice of pizza consists of a thin, wide crust loaded with plenty of toppings and marinara and smothered in heady Italian seasonings. A side of garlic bread and some heady pastas and tortellinis usually round out the menu. Pizzerias in New York are not for the faint of heart.

In the early 1940s, the city of Chicago, IL took pizza in a different direction. It is believed that the first pizzeria in Chicago was Pizzeria Uno, opened in 1943 by Ike Sewell. Sewell’s pizza creation was a new twist on the old New York standard. He created what is known today as deep-dish pizza, where the pizza is sunk low into a deeper pan, and the crust is allowed to rise in thick bubbles around the edges. People flocked to Sewell’s pizzeria, and a whole new way of looking at this favorite food was born.

To this day you can find yourself in some pretty heated debates if you argue with a New Yorker or a Chicagoan about what constitutes authentic pizzeria-style pizza. But whatever crust style you choose, pizza is a unique food with a foggy past and a definite appeal that has lasted through many incarnations.

So you’re lucky enough to find yourself in New York or Chicago, or any city for that matter that has a true pizzeria, complete with checked tablecloths and plenty of garlic on the menu, indulge yourself in an old tradition and order a slice. After all, its tradition.
